POOIL VAAISH LIMESTONE

Pooil Vaaish stone is a carboniferous black limestone(known locally as 'Black Marble') formed over 325 million years ago. Our products are generally produced on 2 main finishes of stone - "riven" which is naturally textured stone similar to a dark gray slate finish or "honed" a smooth, hand-polished near-black finish. Made up of shell and fossil debris, each piece of stone is in itself unique and although predominantly black may contain fossils, flecks or nuggets of iron pyrites (fool's gold), calcite or quartz veins or other markings which are more visible in the honed form of the stone.
