MARBLE

Marble is a form of limestone that is capable of being polished to a high shine. Colouring, though varied, is often subtle creams and whites dappled with intense veining. Unfortunately though, due to it being a more porous material than granite, it requires greater care and is therefore not usually recommended for kitchen worktops. However, stunning results can be achieved when using marble as bathrooms, as flooring, cladding and fireplaces.

Limestone is widely used in bathrooms and as flooring, but is not recommended for worktops as it is a much softer stone than granite. By in large, limestone will not polish, but what it lacks in shine, it more than makes up in character as you can often find fossils embedded in your stone.
